New Year gifts

Santa came at 7:08 p.m and brought me presents.  He has been coming to me since I was three years old.  I totally loved my presents.  They were:  Night Whispers warriors book, the Red Pyramid book, the Lost Hero book, the Silva Method book, metallic markers, and, best of all, a Smithsonian Mega Science Kit.  I can't wait to play with them!  This is turning out to be a very happy new year.

Finishing the volcano

Today I painted the volcano that I wrote about yesterday.  I painted it red, yellow, orange, gray, and brown.  When the paint dried, I put a sealer on the volcano so the paint won't fall off.  I think it is very beautiful.  I put it on my table and put a toy wizard  on top of it. He wears a starry blue cloak and holds a staff. This is it:

Interesting things in my day

Today I did a science kit with my brother Max.  It was a make-your-own-volcano.  We mixed plaster of Paris with water and poured it into the mold of a volcano.  After the plaster dries, we are going to paint it red, yellow, orange, black, gray, and brown.   I want to paint it with all these colors because it looks more real like that.   My uncle Stan and his girlfriend Yelena gave me and my brother New Year gifts:  two scratch art pictures, and one Magic Science For Wizards Only kit.  Then I hugged and kissed them, and they left on a trip to Canada.    In the evening, we decorated our house for New Year.  We decorated a live pine tree with ornaments and we glued plastic golden snowflakes on the walls in our dining room.  We also   hung flickering yellow-red-blue-and-green lights in the dining room.

Skating at Cass Park

Today I went skating at Cass Park.  I went with my Mom, my brother Max, my uncle Stan, and Stan's girlfriend Yelena.  I played "Angry Birds" game on Stan's Android phone on my way to the park.  Cass Park is about 15 minutes away from my house.   I rented a pair of black hockey skates.  They weren't exactly new, but they weren't exactly worn out, either.  The rink was so crowded, I almost got hit by other skaters several times.  There were every kind of people there, even tots on tiny tot skates.  It was really cold in the rink, but I didn't feel cold because I had a lot of clothes on.  At first I didn't skate well because I forgot how to skate, but then I remembered and started skating well.  I skated at four miles per hour, I think.  We took photos of us.  At the end my feet started hurting, so I wanted to get out.  I rushed out to take my skates off and to put my boots on.  When we were going back home, I was playing "Angry Birds" again.

A Space Story

I am a scientist.  I work at a space station with other scientists.  We just made and launched a space shuttle.
It landed on the moon.  We could see what it saw.  We saw gray rocks everywhere.  The space shuttle started digging.  After a while, the drill hit something hard.  We thought it was a rock, so we turned on the sucker.  Nothing happened.  We turned on the camera on the drill.  The thing that the drill had hit looked green and scaly.  We dug around it.  All of a sudden, it came out.  It looked like a huge green pill bug.  Out
of the hole came more of them.  The space shuttle lifted of, but one of them grabbed it with its jaw.  It didn't weigh much in space, so the space shuttle kept going.  Right back to earth.

My cousin Claire

This weekend I am in Brooklyn.  Today I saw my cousin Claire.  She is a year old.  I was overjoyed to see her.  I played with her and walked with her.  She is very cute.  We went to a restaurant to celebrate my grandfather's birthday today and I had salmon shish-kebab with rice.  It was very tasty.  When we were going home I felt like I couldn't leave Claire.  A huge blizzard roared in, and here we are, staying in Brooklyn instead of going back to Ithaca.  I wanted to stay in Brooklyn for a little longer.  My wish has come true!

EPGY

Today is a big day for me.  I have completed 5th grade in EPGY.  EPGY is an advanced mathematical program offered by Stanford University.  I have been doing it for three weeks at about 4 sessions a day.  Each session is 20 minutes.  I was so happy that I had reached my goal!  I hugged my mom very hard.  I was so excited!  We celebrated my achievement by going to the movie theater to see “Tangled”.  It felt as though this was the best day of my life.
